#15 Vermillion & Electric Banana

Tue 16 November 2004

About three months ago I dyed Adam's hair Directions Plum. Why was there no Adventures for this one? It was a rushed job and I forgot my camera. Anyway, he'd been using that Manic Panic Shampoo so the purple was fading super slowly. The current state of affairs was lightish purple with about 1 1/2" of dirty blond roots.

So first off I bleached the lot to get the remainder of the purple out and to get his roots to match. There's a tiny hint of purple left but it's not enough to cause any problems with the new colour. His hair is almost long enough to dread!

Stage 2: I dyed the roots with Manic Panic's Electric Banana
Next I took his hair chunk by chunk and dyed the ends Directions Vermillion Red... with my fingers.
To get the two colours to merge I applied more yellow to the midlengths with my fingers on one hand and smudged the red down with the other on each of the chunks.

Looks pretty cool ey? I think Adam should go all 80's buy some wet-look gel and start doing his hair like this instead of his standard gelled down do (see below).

At this stage all the yellow had been applied to the roots and the ends were left untouched. Here you can see that I got bored with a tint brush and just started applying the Vermillion Red with my fingers. I've not intentionally smudged the colours together yet.

Here's the finished hair do. I reckon it would look cool spiked.

Adam's hair now has a flame effect
