Blotchy Colour

Q:I just dyed my hair but it came out all blotch. Any ideas how I can sort this out?

A:The solution to this really depends on what you've just done to your hair. If you bleached your hair and it's turned out blotchy the only thing you can do is get a friend and go through all of your hair applying bleach to the darker bits. Try and be really thorough because it's so much hassle if you have to do it again. If you just dyed your hair with a permanent colour, the best option is usually to reapply the dye all over. Permanent dyes usually go on very evenly unless you didn't use enough dye to cover your hair. Blotchiness often happens with semi-permanent dyes, especially light colours. The first thing to try is putting more dye in and combing it through to ensure and even coverage. If that doesn't work then it's usually a problem related to prelightening your hair. If you bleached your hair it should be an even colour all over as most dyes won't cover up any mistakes. However, sometimes colour comes out blotchy if you haven't properly shampooed bleach out of your hair before dyeing.
