Stretchy Hair

Q:My hair feels really stretchy when wet and sometimes breaks off if I stretch it too far. What's wrong with it?

A:If when you stretch your hair it doesn't spring back to the same length quickly then it's very close to breaking off! To avoid that you need to stop doing damaging stuff to your hair, ie bleaching, perming, permanent dyes, semi-permanent dyes containing developer, straightening (with chemicals or heat), using curling tongs and crimping irons, blow drying etc. Once you stop all that the stretchiness shouldn't get any worse. It's still okay to use dyes like Manic Panic, Directions, Special Effects and the rest because they don't damage your hair. You need to look after your hair to stop things getting worse. I recommend using an intensive conditioner every time you wash your hair. Also don't brush your hair when it's wet, or if you have to brush it when the conditioner is in to avoid breaking. Use a protein pack weekly to temporarily repair your hair and things should start feeling better. You will need to grow out the damaged hair as it will never get back to its original condition. When bleaching your hair or using a permanent colour only apply the product to the roots and do not allow it to overlap with the previously coloured hair as this causes a lot of damage.
