Normally I absolutely adore Special Effects, really, only hair dye I use. I got Electric Blue today for Ska Prom [a local ska kid show where if you dress up you get money off at the door.] Anyway, I bleached my hair out [I'm an old pro, haha] to blonde, and got all nice and prepared to put the blue in. I was hoping for an electric blue. Sadly, however, I was mistaken. When I began to put it in I noticed it was a bit more...Purple than I was hoping. A lot more purple than I was hoping, honestly. It turned into the ugliest shade of blue/purple/grey I've ever seen in my life. It's hideous. Thankfully I have made dye mistakes before [-cough- Manic Panic] and know how to rinse it out. Anyway, this rating is coming from a loyal Special Effects user. 0/10.

I absolutely adored this colour. It was exactly what I was looking for. It was a very bright, true blue for a week or so after leaving it on platinum blonde hair for four hours. The only drawback was, as a blue, it faded far too quickly for my liking. And I was /hardly/ smitten with the fact that it turned purple. Sure, it's better than fading to some really ugly grey or off-green, but I really wish it would have stayed actually /blue/ longer than it did. So much love for the initial colour, but a point off for how quickly it turned purple.

I put this on blue on bleached hair that was still that nasty orange color because I had had a previous red that just wouldn't bleach out. This blue was a little bit darker than I had intended, but it a was neon blue in the sun. So indoors it looked a little more conservative until the sun hit it. I didn't notice any purple tints at all and I left it in the 15 minutes I was supposed to and for 4 weeks it didn't fade, which surprised me a lot. I washed with cold water and used Paul Mitchell's anti-fade shampoo and conditioner, which is why I think it never really faded. This color will stick to your hair extremely well as long as you take care of it.
