New extensions problem
I was going to cut them to the right length (I guess up to about 6 inches longer than my longest hairs) which I thought would look ok as my hair is layered.
However I tried them out and I love the length they are! I don't think I could actually bear to cut them any shorter BUT because of the placement of colour in my hair they don't look right, so I am hoping that I can fix this another way
If I get some more the same length in blonde, will that look more realistic?
Or do I have to have them shorter? Or will that look just as silly?
Or will it only look 'real' if my hair and my extensions are all the same colour?
Thanks
Edit - my hair at the back looks like the 3rd pic anyway because of the natural hair underneath.

You could always try layering it a bit so you don't have to sacrifice the length so much.

Blonde will look good too. I think if you can't bare to cut them you'll be going for a kind of myspace hair style. For that you won't need to cut them but it's traditional to have big hair on top
I think you could maybe do with an additional weft placed higher up to help blend it with your own hair and then layer it all to blend further.

The hair on my head that I clipped the extensions to is the same colour as them so I thought it would look wrong in just blonde. But I can get some more in blonde and put them in a bit higher up?
And then try and cut them so they look like extra layers of my own hair?

I don't want to take them to a hairdresser or anything as they are just meant to be a fun cheap thing, so I was thinking I could just cut them all the same length (less than twice as long as my longest hair at the bottom of my head) and then when they clip in they will be layered due to them being clipped in at different levels.
But when I looked at them again I noticed that at the moment they are a lot thicker at the top than the bottom and I wondered if they are deliberately like this to look more natural?
Any ideas that I can do at home, by myself, and for free would be much appreciated!
You could try taping them to something or hanging them across something so you can cut them. I'd go for a point cutting technique because really if you cut them not attached to your head it's not going to look all that even when attached. If you point cut this will be less obvious.
