I was wondering if anybody had different techniques as to getting your hair the lightest possible for a different colour, without using bleach. I read somehwere that mixing shampoo with bleach would work but I'm not too sure. I used to just bleach over, but I now know that's not very good for my hair haha.

where i live theres a spray for very light highlights called sun*in. when i have some hair color left in and i wanna dye my hair a different color i spray this on and blow dry my hair (it is activated by heat) it doesn't have bleach in it but it dose have peroxide. But again, it is a very gentle highlighter and it smells like lemons :)

I haven't seen sun-in for ages but last time I saw it it had metallic salts in it which make using bleach afterwards a very bad idea.

One thing you can do is sit in the sun. It can't be that bad for your hair, but it definitely fades colours, especially weak shades.
