Hey everyone... I was pretty active around here a couple years ago but then I dropped off the planet... and don't remember my username!

But anyway.
Yesterday I went on a hair-dying adventure. One of my friends wanted his hair to be gray, and tried to get it done at a salon -- a mistake. They succeeded only in making his head orange.

So I bleached it as far as it would go (virgin, dark brown) and it was bright yellow. I decided to try it anyway, and covered over with first Gray Lady toner and then Drabber colored dye.
I was happy with the coverage of the yellow but it is almost perriwinkle blue.

Any ideas?
Also, any idea of keeping it as gray as possible for at least a week?

Grey and white toners are normally blue or purple. The reason behind this is that the very diluted blue and purple cancel out the yellow tones left from bleaching.

If it's a light blue/purple after dying, wash it. That's likely because there's a lot of dye left in the hair. Not to say that you should scrub it... but wash it normally, and the colour should fade to grey.

It's true.

It actually turned out a fabulous cobalt silver color. I was pleasantly surprised because his hair didn't bleach very light!

Would love to see some pics if you can. I was just going to say if it's too blue it should lighten up after a couple of washes.

Hmm now I'm all intrigued about what your old username is. All the old users are in there so if you still knew/had access to the email address you could have your password resent.
