Hey guys! I'm really excited because I got accepted to this amazing abroad program and get to do development work in Quebec and Brazil. I'm going to be gone for 6 months (July to September in Quebec, October to December in Brazil).

I'll be in the sun quite a bit, and I most likely will not have access to unnatural dyes for the full period since we're going to small towns and villages only. In other words, I'll have to pack any hair stuff I need now.

I don't want to dye my hair a permanent natural colour because frankly, it has taken way too much time, money, and effort to get it the way it is now (I naturally have very resistant black hair). But too unnatural, especially if I'm in a small town in Brazil, will make me stick out too much, and my current colours require too much maintenance for my trip anyway.

What do you guys suggest? Getting my roots done right before I go sound like a good idea? Blue velvet? Some colour concoction that will last?

Thanks in advance for suggestions

blue velvet does seem to last forever, its versatile colour (blue/purple). Plus the only thing I can suggest to keep the color is to pour the remainder of the dye into your conditioner, so everytime you can clean up your hair, slap that stuff in to keep your hair fresh.

Hmmm if you want longlasting Deep Purple lasts ages, too.

Exactly what I was going to suggest - Blue Velvet or Deep Purple. What's your natural colour? If it's dark those shades also look good with dark roots so you could get your roots done before you go, dye is Blue Velvet and pack another bottle to top it up 3 or 4 months down the line.
The sun will fade the colour quite a lot so you may have to touch up the most exposed parts before then.

I do indeed have black roots. Yay, it works to my advantage for once.

Alright, I guess I'll buy a bottle of each, use one right before I leave and pack one for later.

Thanks guys. Hope my hair doesn't fade too much!
