    Hello,
Ever since I got back from my trip to Ireland my roots have been disgusting. After I wash and dry my hair my roots are kind of sticky and look really greasy.
At first I thought it was my conditioner so I stopped conditioning my roots - nothing happened, so I switched to a shampoo for normal hair and still sticky roots. Today I even went as far as washing my hair with body wash in an effort to strip whatever is causing it from my hair. It's just as bad!
I've been laying off heat protecting products and serums on the roots but it just seems to be staying the same.

Has this ever happened to anyone? I can't tell whether it was some product I used when I was home or the water or what but it's really starting to bug me.

Any suggestions, particularly good products for stripping build-up fast, would be much appreciate.

Hmm wish I could help. The only times I get so sticky roots are when something has sort of disturbed the natural balance of my scalp and it usually goes away after a few days. I haven't paid particular attention when it happens to know what causes it. I think I sometimes get it when I travel by sea, probably the sea air and sun. O_o

Maybe you should try to avoid things that may cause your scalp to become more greasy, like conditioning your roots, washing your hair with warm water and maybe eating fatty foods too. If it's because of your scalp maybe you shouldn't use a shampoo that dries out your scalp too much, it may cause it to produce more oil instead.

    Just making suggestions.

Hmm you see the odd thing is it's greasy as soon as I dry my hair so I don't think it's scalp oil. It seems to be some kind of product build up.
Today I tried washing my hair with a Knotty Boy shampoo sample I had lying around. It's supposed to strip the hair of oils and silicone to aid dreadlocking.
It got my hair squeaky clean and it's a lot better today. I gave my hair brushes a wash too because I think it was exacerbating the problem. It's still a little sticky around my crown but hopefully it will get better.

the only time my hair gets sticky is after swimming in the ocean.
But it usually goes away after a good washing.
    so I dunno
