Ok. So I have a very pale even complexion and horribly ugly brown hair and I was considering going black with a few chunks of red or blue but I'm not sure 1.) If it would look good 2.) how to go about it.

I guess you should all know that I am a single mother of a 15 month old and part of me thinks maybe its to drastic a change for me to be making considering my role as a parent .... are parents allowed to be diffrent? lol I'm only 18 I don't want to have to get old.

Anyway, your opinions please!

Don't think it matters (or at least if it should matter) if a parent has multicoloured hair, or piercings or whatever, as long as he/she acts like a responsible parent. Besides, you're young, just because you have a kid doesn't mean you have to act like you're old.

Anyway to the matter at hand. Is your hair dyed? You're going to have to bleach the parts you want to dye, if you use a semi-permanent colour.

I think black and blue, or black and red would look good on you, both combinations work well with your skintone.

I have never done streaks on black hair so I don't know if you need to do black first then bleach later, or vice versa. :/

I'm also pale-skinned and I tend to match my hair to the clothes that suit me. I don't suit reds too well - they tend to make me look blotchy but cool colours like blues seem to work for me. Even with very pale skin, the rules of warm and cool tones still apply.

So my advice would be hold some coloured fabric close to your face and judge which colours work best for you. If you're still not sure what suits you purples and greens look good on most people.

Actions not your hair determine a person character. You are more open minded than most parents much older than you indicate is my humble opinion.

if you want to, then its your choice, and have fun being open minded.

Suggest to acheive red and black, lighten out the brown to a golden blonde in chunks using sections of foil. Then apply the red dye onto the foiled gold blonde hair and fold up each dyed piece. The remaining hair not covered by foil appply the black dye.

    Good luck.

I think a few chunks is a great way to experiment. It's becoming really popular right now to do color that way, even in very upscale and fairly conservative salons. I think purple tends to look good on almost anybody. You might get the "bug" and decide crazy hair dying is something you want to keep doing.

I know quite a few young, hip mothers with tattoos, piercings and crazy hair! Coloring your hair funky is nothing new and you are young. We all get "comments" from time to time, but I've found at least 50% they're benign or positive. My mother warns people about my hair, though, which I consider weird.

I was going through an adoption (we are still in process) and worried my hair & style might hold me back, but no one ever said anything about it. It was an international adoption, so I did plan to color my hair "normal" (or at least burgundy) for the trip to China, though.
