Hey everyone :)

Back in December, I got highlights bleached out of my permanent-black dyed hair (professionally done... it took forever), and then I put blue on the streaks. Since the blue washed out, I haven't done anything to my hair. I've got brown roots about 4 inches out and then the faded black (which is brown now) with the yellowy blonde bits.

I want to go some combination of A) blonde or black with B) blue, turquoise, or red accents. Suggestions are welcome!

The main problem is that I think I would need to strip the old black from my hair and lighten my natural brown, so the colored dye will show up. I'm not sure how to handle stripping the hair with the combination of natural brown, old permanent black, and bleach. Any and all suggestions/help are appreciated. Thanks! :)

-K

So you want to dye the whole lot? That's going to mean a full-on colour correction.

Strand tests are the way to go. My guess is that you'll need to strip the dyed black area back to a reddish colour then bleach the regrowth and the stripped hair to a pale blond, avoiding the already bleached hair and keeping in mind that the first half inch of regrowth bleaches quickly. It's quite a task and it's hard to know how well your hair will respond, both in colour and condition, without doing a strand test.

I agree with Jude - and that would probably be a big hassle.
If you don't want to do all that correcting and are willing to wait, I would continue to grow out your hair and cut out the faded perm black and blonde parts until eventually you have a good length of virgin hair to work with. If you already have 4 inches of roots, I'd say to get the length of your hair in that pic, it would take only a couple of months (if your hair grows at a good pace).
