Just dyed my hair neon SFX Nuclear Red. Man is it NEON! I don't think the shade is working for me. What are my options for dyeing over this with another SFX? Will a blue dye turn it purple, or will that turn nasty? I'm familiar with the color wheel etc. but I've had some wonky things happen with these dyes in the past that just didn't make any sense!

Thanks!

Blue Mayhem on top will turn nasty I think, but it's worth doing a strand test if you have some lying around.

I'd try going for a deep raspberry shade which should be achievable. Using a purple colour over the red should do the trick.

If your hair isn't bleached light enough and has orange tones (Nuclear Red is on the orange side of red too, now that I think of it), I think adding a blue on top will turn it weird. I agree with Jude, you're safer using a purple colour on top, that will make for a nice darker shade.

Neon orangey red and blue will just go icky brown I guess. Go for purple if you want blue-ish hair :)
If not I think Jude's raspberry idea sounds good :)

Actually, it will turn purple, but a mucky purple like they said. I tried it once and it was like silver purple. I kind of liked it anyway. You never know what color it will turn unless you try.

I mixed purple and green once and got silvery blue...it was pretty bomb.

I dyed over it with Wildflower and it worked like a charm! It turned a rich wine color. Its very beautiful! Very odd too - from further away its hard to tell what color it is, but up close, whoooaaa vivid red wine!

Here is a picture to help out those in a similar situation in the future. Its edited to show the true colors more closely. I left the undercut nuclear red just for fun, and I like it!

    Thanks again!
