Anyone here know what kind of undertones directions ebony and blue-black have?

I'm thinking about tipping my hair one of those colors, but worry it'll fade out to "YUCK" over my existing green. It's gotta be either blue or purple undertones for either shade, I'm hoping blue...

how 'bout manic panic black & blue?

or, does anyone know of a black/blue-black shade without any purple undertones?

I just got some Manic Panic Black & Blue in the post... it appears to be a pure, saturated blue. Haven't tried it yet but anticipate deep blue fading to lighter blue, would go with green.

Directions Ebony... hmmm, pretty sure that's purple based, avoid with green.

Directions Ebony fades out to a kind of petrol blue for me. Quite a nice shade in my opinion but I could see it going greenish if your hair hadn't been bleached light to begin with. You could mix it with a dark shade like Midnight Blue though I have a feeling it would work particularly nicely mixed with Neon Blue to create a deep navy blue shade.

Directions Ebony is blue-based these days? Cool, I'll have to try it. Maybe it was Punky Colour that had the black colour that was really purple, it was a decade ago so I forget.

What's petrol blue approximately? Is it a blue with a slightly green-grey tinge?

I've got Manic Panic Black & Blue simmering in my hair at the moment, await the morrow to see what it looks like in the sun. It's weird... playing with the dye, it's different colours, it's not like Directions Midnight Blue which is just straightforward blue for me. I think there is two dyes in there, an indigo-purple one and an aqua/turquoise one. On my sink, the purple stains, while the aqua runs as droplets down the drain. On my skin, it stains mostly aqua unless it's been sitting there for a while, then it's purpley. Can't wait to see what it fades to! At any rate, I'm guessing it's less purple than SFX Blue Velvet (a shade which I quite dislike even though it sticks like buggery).

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit! I'll post here when my hair's all done.

The results of MP Black & Blue. Where I didn't apply it as much, it shows up a nice deep aqua. No sign of the weird purple yet thankfully. I read from someone that MP After Midnight Blue fluoresces red on their hair after they wash it.

Of course, now I've done this, I have a big craving for blonde hair with dreads through it and turquoise streaks! Which will be far more practical in the Wet season at the end of the year anyway than this, too much humidity and rain making hair leaky and limp. I guess I gotta fade this elegantly now.

whoaaaa, that looks fantastic on you! i'm glad you had so much success with it. (and i'm glad someone else is as obsessively attentive to the nuances of color as i am. haha!)
