Well, I have been fooling around with the whole dreadlock idea for a while now, so I decided to install some black synthetic dreadlocks into my hair for the weekend.

I had nowhere near the amount of dreads needed for a full head (usually about 50 double ended dreads), so I just installed the ones I had (about 10 double ende dreads). I used a "mohawk" type configuration, basically just going down the center of my head and braiding them in.

I can't find blonde synth hair in town, so I'll have to buy some. This makes the dreads stick out a lot more (if my roots were the same color they'd blend in better). I put a small piece of straightened braiding hair (kanekalon Jumbo Braid) in the bangs to unify the look.

I liked it, but would definitely like to try this with more dreads and at least some blonde ones in order to make it look like they're a bit more real.

Very nice! It looks great, I like the way you arranged them, I think it gives a nice effect. That and also the colours look very nice together and good thinking on the black streak, it balances the colours nicely.

I'm in the process of making some synthetic dreads myself, to match my hair. I've made about 15 double ended ones and it's taking forever. 50 dreads seems so far away!

I'm actually hankering for some real dreads, but I am resisting (even though my hair seems to tend to dread pretty easily), since I don't know if work would freak out on me about it. I can get away with a lot of stuff, but I'm not sure that includes dreadlocks.

I figure if I put in the synthetic ones and they don't like it, I can (a) take them out and make falls with them or (b) offer to wear scarves or something else to work to conceal them.

Glad you guys like the synths. I really liked it, too, but was a little self-conscious since I attended a punk event over the weekend and wondered if people were thinking, "POSER". Do people even say that anymore??? LOL.

Oh yeah, people still definitely say poser.
    Myself included haha.
I don't think you are one though, hell if anything you might consider ME a poser.

Actually, the funny thing is, I feel more like a poser IN REAL LIFE than when I go somewhere where I can just be myself. Isn't that crazy?

BTW...I don't think you're a poser. LOL...I'm not really sure what it means. Sometimes in the punk community you get the feeling that if you're not living out of a dumpster and squatting in an abandoned building that people think you're a joke. That's okay, cuz I don't really qualify as a punk, either. I'm a weirdo.

I think that will look awesome when you have more. I actually think mixing the black and blonde dreads would look bomb.

    Gutter/street punx :D
I had a joke with my friend about punks living in the trashcans at my highschool. dorks :)

In the punk world, everyone outside of your loop is a poser. Silly punx. And when you get out of that group, you realize "wow...I WAS a poser..."
Have you seen 'SLC Punk!'? Its a great example and a totally fun movie, except the end is a little sad.

I've seen SLC Punk, but while I remember liking it, I don't remember anything about it. Ha. Ha. Ha.

What a lot of 'punks' forget is that the 'original' punks in England were sort of manufactered in the way they dressed, etc. Macolm MacDowell was trying to make money for the shop he had with Vivienne Westwood (SEX). OH well...

Punk's an attitude, I guess...I'm proud to be me, and I happen to like punk music, but haven't really ever thought of myself as much of anything. I've always liked too much of other stuff to qualify for any genre's clique.

hehe, oh well. You should really see it again. It by far one of my favorite movies.
I was just sayin SLC is a good example because in the end when Heroine Bob dies, Steve-o comes to the realization about the fact that he is a total poser. It was sad, when he finds him dead he starts calling Bob a poser, and saying only posers die. :( aw. Other than that its such a fun movie. I love the whole slideshow about why punks fight. And he starts talking about how rednecks beat the crap out of punks, punks kick mod's butts, mods beat up skinheads, skinheads beat the crap out of metal heads, and metal heads beat up newwavers and newwavers did nothing. They're the new hippies. hehe. And I love Matthew Lilliard in that movie. He's so cute with his blue hair :D

I used to think I was a punk, and then my brain clicked that I don't want to be categorized. Now I'm just whatever, though others like to categorize me as "psychobilly". But that's cool. At least rockabilly subculture is more classy.

It all sounds like a bit too much effort trying to co ordinate a look like that. I reckon "try-hard" is the new "poser"

Hmm sarcasm doesn't really come across well written down.

Anyway, I really like this look on you. The great thing about extensions is how you can change your look really quickly and do something new as soon as you get bored. I'll be interested to see how it looks if you try it with more dreads or different colours.

Did you have any problems braiding them in?
