Okay, so this is my first post here. I was looking for a little bit of help and advice with a problem I'm having with my newly dyed hair. I found you guys, and thought you might be able to help me. ^0^

Three days ago I dyed my hair for the first time (I know, n00b alert) using Manic Panic Green Envy/Enchanted Forest. My hair is a light brown, so I decided not to bleach beforehand. I was really pleased with the final results and the vibrant colour that appeared.

However by the second day the vibrancy had faded a little, but it was still a really nice colour and quite bright. I noticed though that colour had leeched into my pillow case while I was sleeping. D: It also leeched into my towel where I dried my hair after being in the shower.

Today, colour was still leeching into my pillow. I also washed it for the first time since I dyed it, (because shampooing too often fades the colour...?) when I lathered up my shampoo, the foam was bright green and tons of dye was in the water when I rinsed. The colour has lost it's vibrancy quite a lot and I'm not so pleased that I now have green towels and pillow cases. :[
I have no idea why this is, since I rinsed until the water was crystal clear after dying.

Is this normal, or have I done something wrong? thanks in advance for any help.

Unfortunately with dyes such as Manic Panic, bleeding is quite common.
It can leech onto bathtubs, pillowcases, hairbrushes, barettes, even the white labels on the inside of your shirt...
All you can do is wash or clean whatever got stained and hope for the best.
There's even a fantastic article about this common dilemma:

    Hope that helps!

Your experience is very normal. My personal expeirence with Manic Panic greens have always found to wash out quickly like 75%-80% of the original color gone in one week from my experience. Your hair also strated brown which does not hold dye because not as porous as beige blonde hair as well as the color does not show up as vibrant on brown hair as does blonde. When washing hair use old towels to dry you do nto mind staining. Wash the towel and hope for the best. Sleeping suggest wrapping a old towel around the pillow. I am not a preofessional just a person with a little experience having fun colors of hair.

The good thing, is even dark colors like SFX Deep Purple eventually come out of fabrics, unless perhaps the item is white. Some stains may have to wear off a bit. I haven't had anything ruined by semi permanent hair color. I got a dark purple spot on a hot pink shirt and eventually the spot did wash out. It just took some time. Usually the rub off on pillowcases comes out easily. I typically wrap my pillowcases with old towels when I sleep if my hair is crazy colored.

I never go to bed with wet hair or lean on fabrics unless my hair is totally dry. So far nothing of mine has gotten stained and I've done a lot of dark purples, blues, greens, reds.

Also, if you put a silicone based hair defrizz or smoother while your hair is wet, it helps prevent color bleeding.

im currently having the same problem with RAW deep purple. my skin is even slightly purple hued, and my ears and fingernails are even purple. it just happens with certain dyes.

Be very open and honest with who and what you are. If people still like you, fine, if not, that's their problem.

Since your hair was unprocessed before dying it, it's not strange that it didn't hold on to the colour for long and that it lost its vibrancy so quickly. Virgin hair isn't porous enough and doesn't hold on to this kind of dyes well.

As for your pillowcases/towels that get stained, mine usually just get clean when I put them in the washing machine.

yeah, it happens to the best of us. more so when you dye over unbleached hair.

the residual color on my towels (even the white ones) comes off in the wash.

hah yes, my hair bleeds everywhere when I dye it, all the time.. if you're going to keep dying your hair crazy colors,
I suggest you designate older towels and pillowcases, because even if your hair is the slightest bit wet it can bleed onto your pillowcases..which is just a pain!
I just find it way easier to use older ones instead of having to
wash everything numerous times to get color stains out :p
