Ok so I found this site called Cosmetic Safety Database and look

I looked up other brands like Directions and it came out with no results..

What are your thoughts on this?

i checked it out and all of the stuff, i mean everything they had on there was only level four. no one has died from hair dye, just dont worry about it. its fine.

Be very open and honest with who and what you are. If people still like you, fine, if not, that's their problem.

Seriously, I doubt you're going to get cancer from hairdye. So don't freak, if you love dying your hair I wouldn't let that stop me.
So many things are supposed to cause cancer these days that you would never guess, but its so rare to actually find that's the reason for it.

Seriously, if you put in brands like the things you use every day (cosmetics, shampoos etc) their hazard levels are mosty above 4, many of them are in the reds. I don't think the fact that only manic panic exists in the database, that means that say, Directions, is of lower toxicity. It doesn't contain all products out there (it says at the about section that it has 1/4 of the available products, but I suppose they're talking about the products available to the country of the website).

Check this out: http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/product.php?prod_id=100642
Just an eyeshadow, that you'd think is more innocent, has scored 7. And they're all higher than 4-5. You only use the dye like once every month or two, while these products you may use every day.

Not saying that you shouldn't be careful of what you use, just that mostly everything we use that is chemical and not of vegetable origin has something that is potentially dangerous.

Are you sure that that colour is a puple, by the way? Because mahogany is supposed to be a reddish/brown colour.

I hear that in California, a lot of things have signs on them that say they may cause cancer. Everything from a power cable/plug thing for a computer (just the cable and plug, not the rest of it), computer equipment genrally, and sometimes, whole buildings (it's easier to put a sign on a building than on everything in it ).

I guess, it's good to know the risks, and if they scare you then don't use them. I wonder what other things like hair spray get on the cancer scale? You breath that more than hair dye...

Haha, that sounds like an interesting practice. Never heard of buildings causing cancer before.

It would be fun if they'd put warning signs on everything. Like "warning, chewing gum contains sweeteners that may be carcinogenic". O_o

Yeah, a lot of stuff goes a bit overboard nowadays. Like in the old days nobody wore helmets, but now for almost any wheeled sport you need helmets. I'm not saying it's a bad thing (I'm one of the few teenagers who always wears a helmet when biking) but just comparing the past to now. The past generation didn't turn out too badly.

Also, everybody's favourite example: The coffee cups stating that 'this beverage may be hot'.

Yes its true...if it can cause cancer (even if its unlikely) they must place somewhere that it can cause cancer. I think its a bit funny...

According to the health nerds, everything causes cancer. In fact, the computer probably causes cancer too.

Truth is cancer is natural...we all will get it some point in time but it may not be deadly. In fact, we could have a small lump and never notice it and have it go away because our body has gotten rid of it. Cancer is simply when a bad cell is made and reproduces quicker than the other cells can kill it off. Sometimes they manage to kill it off (sometimes it goes away and sometimes it doesn't), and sometimes the "cancer" cell is growing so rapidly that it can't be stopped.

I don't believe anything causes cancer, but stuff can provoke it. I think as long as you take care of your body the best you can then you should be fine.

    ah I love bio
