I just came back from my vacation and even though I had redyed my hair about 2 weeks ago, now it's half-faded. The sea did its trick, even though I only got into the sea twice (it's so nice to get sick when on holiday ). Not faded enough to dye over yet (especially the pimpin' purple doesn't seem to fade at all), but if I go on more vacation and then give it a bleach it should be good to dye.

Anyway, my point, which I've missed so far, is that I got some photos from last years' vacation developed (I know, "what already?":p) when I had Vampire Red hair and realized how much I loved having red hair. Probably the hair that made me feel the best. But Vampire Red faded really fast, only lasted about a week on my hair before it started fading (before even going on vacation and without staying in the sun), so I would be interested to find some other red that is like Vampire Red and hopefully lasts more.

Can anyone suggest some *true* red, that's bright, yet deep, but not neon and preferably slightly pink toned? I have no idea if what I just said makes any sense.

I've been looking in the gallery and poppy red looks pretty, but I've seen it in other pictures turn out more pink?

But I don't know, what do you guys think? I've also read that maybe SFX Blood Red looks like Vampire Red?

I've had Poppy Red, and I don't really think it's similar to Vampire Red because it's a lighter shade with very strong pink tones.
I think SFX Devilish or Candy Apple Red is closer to what you're looking for.
Blood Red seems to have strong orange tones, and I don't think it looks as nice.

    Thank you for the suggestions.

Is Devilish lighter than Blood Red? If Devilish has too strong pink tones, will putting some Nuclear Red in it cancel them out?

I can't seem to find any pictures of Candy Apple Red to see how it turns out, hmm.

I would be willing to try Directions too, but I'm not sure what each colour is like.

I think so far I'm leaning towards Devilish, it looks like the most promising.

I think Blood Red is darker than Devilish.
I don't know if I'd add Nuclear Red to cancel out pink tones.
I'd maybe go with with Blood Red because it's darker.
Candy Apple Red looks a lot like Devilish, but it's a bit darker.
If you're willing to try Directions though, I think Pillarbox or Vermillion is the way to go.

I was just asking because I have some Nuclear Red lying around and wondered if it could be of use.

I've got no idea what Vermillion Red and Pillarbox look like, it's hard to understand how the actual colour will look from the colour swatches. Maybe Pillarbox looks more like what I'm looking but I'm not sure. :/

Oh well if you have leftover Nuclear Red you could definitely try mixing a small amount and see how it looks.
But I think the only difference between MP Vampire Red and MP Pillarbox Red is that the former is a bit darker than the latter.
Because all those photos on the MP website look similar.
MP and Directions share a lot of the same shades, but MP gave them all stupid names so it can be difficult to tell which are identical.
I wish I knew more first-hand but the only semi-permanent red I've used is Poppy Red.

Hmm if I get Vampire Red amplified formula it will last a bit longer. Maybe instead of a week it'll last for 10 days. Yay!:p
I agree the photos look similar, I really can't understand much from the photos for any red since they all seem to come out different on each person plus the colours might not be true to reality, that's why I'm asking for opinions. :/

Anyway thank you very much, you've been most helpful. I think I'm gonna get some Devilish and maybe mix it with some Nuclear Red and hope for the best.

Yeah I'd use SFX, don't waste your money on MP.
I used Infrared last year to freshen my permanent red and it went orange within a month.

It took less than a week for Vampire Red to start turning orange on me. I was worried about washing it, because the changes were very noticable so fast! The fastest fading colour I've tried, at least on me it is.
I hope I have better luck with SFX, I'm a bit financially tight at the moment, so I can't afford to retouch my colour often.
    Wish me luck!
