Hello, after asking for advice on here I finally went and dyed my hair orange today, it's quite light and sort of has a gradient effect with the tips being darker, which is because of the black dye used on my hair about 8 months ago. I also cut quite a bit off making it much more pointy and layery and stuff, it's much lighter though about the same length at the very back!

I'd like some info on how to keep this colour vibrant and strong, some people recommended boosting the colour up with Napalm Orange, any other tips for now?

This really shows the colour.
Desaturated the bg cause it was clashing with my hair, the colour of the hair has not been edited though.

It looks great. Are you pleased with it?

I recommend conditioners for coloured hair. They really do help, particularly in the summer because they contain UV filters. The sun is probably the worst thing for draining your colour.

I've been liking it more and more as time goes by. It's a lovely new look without really going into any kind of effort really.

I'll condition, I'll use some extra colour once in a while, I'll also use milder shampoos (helps right?), my hairdresser said that using a shampoo with some colour in it will help too, I honestly have no idea what he is talking about, does he mean a shampoo that I add some colour to myself or a special product that comes like that for using with coloured hair... The reason I didn't ask him to explain is because he goes off on huge tangents and or ignores me so I just thought you guys can explain (and you probably know better)!

If you add a small quantity (teaspoon?) of your dye to your conditioner it helps keep the colour vibrant. That's if you used Manic Panic, Special Effects, Directions... the vegetable dyes and stuff. I'm pretty sure it doesn't work with other box dyes though.

I agree, it looks really nice! The colour goes really well with you.

Is it worth it though why not just put a bit of actual dye every so often on the hair? What it is the main difference?

Probably the difference is that you don't have to dye your whole head so often, you just wash your hair and the extra dye helps keep your colour fresher for longer.

Thanks!!! I think the whole new hairstyle ish type situation hasn't sunk in... yet!! First wash after salon treatment will be the gateway to seeing what the new cut/colour is like!

Yeah, I see the logic, but it is worth "wasting" a few teaspoons when you could do your whole head... just more often... lol, time will show, when my hair starts fading I'll purchase a whole bottle of napalm orange, and do my whole head and then see from there what's up with the colour!
It's all good for now anyway, no rush!
