For the summer I wanted to dye hair my hair purple, and unfortunatnetly my parents vetoed ANY bleaching. Does anyone know how I could get a really good long-lasting purple in the U.S.?

With light brown hair, you probably could get away with either Pimpin' Purple or Deep Purple and possibly Wildflower, which I've heard is somewhat of a lighter version of Deep Purple. It tends to look a little bit blue in the pictures I've seen of it.

I've used Deep Purple and initially it looks almost black. Unfortuanately, if you hair is in good condition, the color won't stay too long. The darker stuff lasts longer, but be prepared to redo it pretty often. I used DP on my husband last year and the color faded out before the staining on his scalp went away, but he has really dark hair (nearly black).

Good luck.

are they against any other ways of lightening your hair ? I remember some other people having issues with bleach (reactions etc) and had a few ways to lighten the hair slightly without the use of it

All reference to reality in the above post is pure luck

Yeah, they totally vetoed any lightening because they want my hair color not to be permenant if they decide they hate my hair (they are evil!).

Buy one of those kits that bleach and dye in one. I had good results with a Schwarzkopf one on virgin hair. It just looks like a normal Schwarzkopf dye and your parents will never know. :D

It really depends on what your natural colour is. Have you read this? http://haircrazy.info/BeginnerGuides/dyeing-unbleached-hair/
