Well, I cut my already short but somewhat shaggy hair a bit shorter, and it looked odd having 1/2 brown, 1/2 pinkish-red hair, so I bleached it. Goodness...if anyone ever wants a hair that will completely come out of your hair when you bleach, Devilish is it. Wow...I put the bleach in, and about a minute later, no more red at all.
I used 30 volume developer and Basic White bleach powder. The roots are a tad darker, but I didn't want to leave the bleach in too long. I probably only left it on for about 15 minutes or so. It actually gives my short hair a little depth. When my hair is short and all one light color (i.e. platinum blond), I look weird, almost bald.

I am debating whether or not to just keep blonde for a while, since I might be job hunting soon (again...*sigh*) and I have a bugger of a time getting colors out of my hair, this being the true exception. I have briefly considered something like SFX Purple Smoke, but know if I start interviewing, I'd have to cover it up

Purple Smoke is good in that it will wash out in about 6 weeks in my experience but bad because it has a tendency to go pink if you bleach it.
