Anybody know how long your hair should be (minimum) for dread extensions? I have super short hair right now, but have been craving dreads. I'm not too keen on just waiting and growing it out until I can start "real" dreads. I'd like to have natural ones eventually, but until then, think extensions would work. I figure I'll have to grow my hair somewhat, but I've read 2 to 3 inches is the minimum length.

Is there a way to do dread extensions with crimps or only through braiding?
Thanks!

From what I understand, 2 to 3 inches cn get away with them for sure. Braiding is standard, but you can also do dread bands, wigs, falls, for temporary.

I've also seen someone add some hair glue (liquid gold_, don't ever use latex based like salon pro") kinda like you would with single strand extensions using them (there is a tutorial on that at drlocks.net) - so the hair grows into the dreads. this is more permanent, if you choose.
