I agree with Jude, without seeing your hair it's hard to tell. Maybe you could post a pic of it?
I personally have found white toners like MP virgin white and others like that have no harsh chemicals, to do little or nothing. You might try a blue/violet toned toner by like, Born Blonde or Loreal to get rid of the gold hues, but those have harsh chemicals (like bleach, thats why they work better than the others that are just pigment) and if your hair is as damaged as you say then they might cause serious breakage. You can go ahead and try a toner that's just pigment if you want, it won't hurt, but I doubt it will help. You can get a darker, Magenta/hot pink by using a deeper dye like atomic pink sfx, or hot hot pink mp, and I'm sure you'd have better luck with that, but if you have your heart set on that shade of pink I think your kinda screwed, it's very hard to get and to maintain. My hair is almost black with red undertones and I also originally had my heart set on a pink like in the pic, but gave it up when I saw how much I had to damage my hair to get it, so I went for hot hot pink and I gotta say, I love it. Would you consider a deeper shade of pink? My only idea for lightening your hair w/out damage is to put some sun in or lemon juice on it and bake in the sun for a long time, it won't be drastic, but it might help.
