I decided to go bright red about a week ago. I bleached my hair with Manic Panic bleach vol. 30. My hair was red with light red highlights. I had banana blonde roots and an icky strawberry blonde ends. I had bought manic panic pillbox red to put on it. Did that and it turned pink. I was then given some L'Oreal Hilights in red with vol 20 developer and told to mix it up and comb it through the hair, wrap with plastic bag, and leave one for awhile. I did that and left it on for a little over an hour. Came out a more vibrant pink. Just for shits and giggles, I put Beyond Zone Candy Apple Red. I've got about 3 different shades of pink going on and some blonde coming through as well. I just wanted to go a bright red. I was thinking about getting SFX Nuclear Red or Hot Lava. I'm not bleaching it again because its already a bit dry at the ends. Here are pictures of my hair. Any advice help would greatly be appreciated

Nuclear Red and Hot Lava are good choices. They're definitely bright red but have slight orange tones so it's not likely to go pink again.

I think that sounds like a good plan especially since you bleached then used perm color over (for which the developer is peroxide). The fact that they're more orange toned should help with the pink tone, I totally agree.

The case may also be your hair is too porous (open cuticles) and the color is not depositing on the hair as the dye should. My best suggestion is condition the hair with a moisturizing conditioner than wait two days for the natural oils to come back. The wash and condition again with a moisturizing conditioner. After another two days after conditioning than apply the dye fo your choice. Blood Red by SFX or Vampire Red Manic Panic is a suggestion then leave on for a hour. While the dye is on either add a mist of water and rub the dye into the hair again (re-work) or add the remainder dye and rub the remaining dye into the hair.

Dying after conditioning does not work well because the conditioner creates a barrier protecting the cuticle even from dye and the dye can not penetrate the hair as well. These are some suggestions which hope may help.

oh yeah well i have to get paid before i can buy any other coloring so it won't be until saturday. i've been conditioning my hair since i bleached it. not that its bad, its really not, just don't want it to get badly damaged. i'm probably going to cut it soon anyway.
