so this time im DEF doing my idea.
i have a haircut scheduled and everything!
so im getting my haircut choppy liek..

and i wanan dye it liek a burgandy. liek...

maybe a lil darker.
does anyone know of a permanent dye that i can get like this color? so i dont have to bleach it?
and my hair doesnt dye really well so how long could i keep it in to get it to show up good?
i have light brown hair
and the question i ask the most on these forums
can i straighten my hair? (now that im not bleaching my hair is it safer to straighten?)

That's a lot more red than burgundy.

But I've used many permanent red dyes in the past so all I can say is that they fade really fast.
You're better off using a semi-permanent dye like Manic Panic Infra Red or Special Effects Candy Apple Red.

The thing about permanents, and noticeably so with permanent reds because the invariably fade, is that when using a permanent it both lightens the hair and deposits a colour. Anything with peroxide is generally designed to be oxidative. Oxidising always lightens the hair.
However, if you use a direct dye on your light brown hair you should be able to get a red colour without lightening it. By direct dye I mean one which you apply as is, without any mixing or pre-treating the hair. Special Effects is one of those options but if you prefer something more natural looking most of the big companies like Clairol/L'Oreal will make a direct colour.

If this is an idea you plan on sticing with for a while TRY HENNA. no bleaching nessecary, and FAR less fade than other reds. its very conditioning as well. and if you mix with indigo you can definately achieve a permanent burgandy color VERY easily. its not an easy process, but if thats a color you really want to try, its definately a good option. you can even get it in box form, BUT STRAND TEST FIRST. body art quality henna is much safer to use on previously bleached or dyed hair however.... heres a link to a site on it -

this one seems to have a nice burgandy color - http://www.hennaforhair.com/mixes/raina/

there is also a forum on the site

Yeah you do need to bleach your hair if you want to use MP or SFX.
But the great thing about red is that you don't have to bleach it as light as possible.
You can get away with having your hair bleached to orange and the red will cover it just fine.
My other recommendation is using a permanent dye first.
L'Oreal Feria Power Reds in Spicy Red looks very similar to that colour.
However after it faded, I put Manic Panic Infra Red over it.
I've had the Infra Red in my hair for a few weeks now and the red is still going strong.
    Much better than the L'Oreal.
    ^_^
