I need some serious advice! I am trying something a little more extreme for the first time and I cannot decide between brands or colors! I’ve been dying my hair red for awhile and I love it but I’d really like something brighter, more vibrant, and a little more unnatural. I’m not allowed to have anything too extreme, even though I’d love to, because of my job. I’m thinking of bleaching either the tips of my hair or bleaching highlights and then dying my whole head. Does anyone know if that will be a horrible idea and have unforeseen consequences? Does anyone know what red will show up on a medium/dark red? I am looking for a red with blue/pink undertones that will show up on my hair without having to lighten my whole head. Does anyone have any ideas/advice? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. I've attached a picture of what my hair looks like currently if that helps.

I think doing some skinny highlights, then dying over with Special Effects Blood Red would look great on you. Blood Red tends to go over unbleached hair very nicely, and I can totally see it on you. It's not very cool toned, though, so if you really want it cooler, you could mix in some Candy Apple Red or Burgundy Wine.

Well then best I could suggest is try burgandy highlights, which is a natural color and yet is not. If you decide to put in highlihgts of red and working is dependent on how you look, which is extremely sad and like middle school mentality, strongly suggest thin highlights that are well blended into the color you have. This is like testing the waters at work to add more red and then more red if "work" is okay. Also you can always add more later if "work" is okay with what you have done.

Thanks so much! I'll post pictures so you can see how it turns out.
