So... I work for my college as an IT lackey. I just went to wipe the hard drive of an old computer, but when I plugged it in it started to spark a LOT and it was really scary. And then it smoked for a long time. My coworker thinks the power supply blew. But I'm very glad I didn't catch fire. Which brings me to my question - is dyed hair any more flammable than virgin hair? Thanks.

(The fun part was we got to take the computer apart to take the hard drive out so that we can put it in a different computer to wipe it.)

Probably not. All hair is pretty darn flammable. Especially with ahirspray/alcohol based products in it!!

Could have been the fan crapping out and letting the processor overheat? That happened me once, it was slightly scary!

I doubt dyed hair would be more flammable though it might burn a bit faster if it's really dry

And we think it was the power supply that blew because it happened the instant I plugged it in - it wasn't a delayed heat-up thing.
