Hey - I'm currently in the middle of nowhere rural Ohio so the nearest Sally's is half an hour away. Neat, right? Anyway. So I need to bleach my roots, and baring being able to get a tint brush (neither Kroger nor any of the local drugstores nor Walmart even had them) I bought a cheapy toothbrush. Will this work instead? Will the bleach eat the toothbrush?

Thanks ^_^

A toothbrush might be ok, if your hair is short it should suffice. Make sure it doesnt just clump the bleach on your hair though, so some spreading with well gloved hands might bein order.

I figured that just for bleaching my roots, the smallness of the brush would be more okay, as it wasn't all my hair.

    Thank you ^_^

I have the same problem. i live in ohio too and am about 30 miles away from any actual hairstore. when i did mine fishbowl i actually used a paintbrush. one that you would use to maybe trim a room when your painting it. of course i had to pitch the paintbrush but it seemed to work fine.

I never use tint brushes.....I just use my hands, it's much faster, and easier to clean up.....

But I think that using hands is harder, but I've been doing it for years so I'm used to it.......

Go ahead and try it out...

Of course, I never re-bleach and dye my roots.....I usually go about 9-10 months between each dye, so my record for longest roots was 2 - 2 1/2 inches when I was blue......Otherwise, I just do my roots during my next project.....

FYI for ze board - the toothbrush worked wonderfully for the roots, as it was just the right size to get them. ^_^ (Plus I had an OCD friend helping me so she made sure everything got covered by the bleach, woo!)

Thats a good idea using a toothbrish to touch up roots. If I re-do mine myself I'll have to try that.

I mostly prefer toothbrushes. I find it catches each hair more thoroughly.
