hello!

i'm about to embark on a journey most of you all have traveled before...yep, that's right, i'm a virgin hair dyer. that's why i'm coming to you guys for help. i've read just about every single piece of literature on bleaching/dyeing your hair, but i still have a couple questions.

the first pic with all brown hair is me. i have incredibly thick, wavy, course medium-dark brown hair.

the second pic is one i found of what i want my hair to look like after i dye it! I want the top portion (about 75% of my hair) bright pink, and just some of my bangs and the underneath section to be my natural brown hair color.

my question is this: how would i go about bleaching and dyeing the majority of the top portion of my hair w/o fecking up the brown underneath? clips, cap, tin foil?

also, how many times should i bleach my hair to get a very pale blond before i dye pink? i want it *VERY* vibrant pink! should i use a toner after i bleach?

thanks for your help! i'd love to post pix when i do it (next week).

If you're bleaching your hair in sections you should be able to work from the top down and clip the bleached hair away from the brown hair as you work.
Ideally go for pale blond. I don't think it will be a problem. A lot of pinks will cover more yellowish blond but you'll get better lasting power and truer pink shades if it's a bit lighter.
Good luck with the hair dyeing!

I'd definitely go for SFX Atomic Pink, my natural colour is similar to yours, and for my pink undercolour I only had to bleach once for the pink to look really vibrant, and it lasts for literally months. Maybe too long!
It's beautiful though, a lovely colour.
    Good luck!
    Xx.

yeah, my husband died his hair atomic pink and it was insane! i think i will go with atomic pink as well...i really like how you did the blue on top and the pink underneath;)

thanks for the helpful info...i've never bleached my hair before so i think i will have a friend help me with the clipping process you mentioned, jade.

everyone tells me (when they see my hair), "i can't believe you're doing that...you're going to ruin your lovely hair! it's going to fall out!". but when my husband did it, it was totally fine. good lord, these people and their attachment to naturally colored hair. it's like you're a crazy f*ed up freakhole if you wanna do something fun/different with your hair.

Yeah I know what you mean. People seem to think they can have an opinion on what you do with your hair. I now have the opposite problem, if I talk about dyeing my hair black I get "but why would you want to ruin your blue hair?". Can't win
