I went on vacation (holiday, for those in the UK -- *waves*) recently. I was amazed at how many people (including older people) had colored hair in SCOTLAND.

So, the question is...how accepting is YOUR city of crazy hair colors?

Milwaukee is okay with it. There are a few people with crazy hair, but not many, even in the punk/goth/industrial scenes. I see more kids with wild colors, but very few "adults".

Well Jude lives in Scotland so I think we can partially blame her for that

Im from a small seaside town where anything out of the ordinary yielded comments of freak and wierd. Now I live in a city - its no big deal.

dont really see people walking around everyday with crazy hairstyles and colours but when there is the corresponding metla or punk concert then everybody comes out in force

Next concert: Hamburg - Apocalyptica (again) - 2nd of July

    Not really.
My town is very "highclass". you know, those kinds of people who laugh at people who try to be different just because they are scared that if they tried something like that, theyd be banned.
I usually will buy manic panic and bring it to my favorite salon so I could get it done cause hair salons dont carry the products I like.

Scotland was amazing (*thanks Jude*). I saw SO many people with funky hair, I got a little jealous. It probably didn't hurt that I was at the Fringe Festival (artsy types???).

Mine hair's blonde now, but that might change one of these days. Might put some highlights or something in it, and lately, I've been intrigued by silver.

    Toronto is okay about it.
A lot of people stare, mostly adults.
But a subway operator complimented me and so did my professors in university.
Though back in my hometown people weren't so open-minded.
I received a few drive-by shoutings of FREAK!

The reactions depend on how bright my colour is.

Dundee is good, actually it seems over the past few years every second person has unnatural coloured hair.
I'm moving to Edinburgh in a few months which as you said is also very accepting of hair colours. It's like that all year round though you do tend to see a few more coloured heads during the festival.
I get a few more comments when I go back to Ireland but it's usually people just being curious.

Its funny now I have dreads, I notice more people with them. I saw 2 this morning on the way to work. (People with dreads, not just dreads on their own at a bus stop.)

I think the fact that I can get away with my appearance at my current job (leaving in 6 days heehee) just shows that employers/society is much more accepting in general of hair funky-ness.

No one around where I live has crazy colored hair over the age of 20.
But just about everyone in highschool has a streak of some unnatural color. It's sort of boring because everyone has it placed the same...A big chunk on their bangs and little streaks everywhere else...or just undercolor. i want to see something new!

Yeah I was at the Foo's concert on Tuesday (anyone else there?) and saw at least 5 different people with short brown hair with a purple chunk at the front. It was kind of odd.
I see a lot of people under 20 with dyed hair but there are also quite a lot around my age (mid 20s) and several in their 30s and 40s around here.
