Alotta rockers on here... I guess I'm differnt!

Lol not in a good way though.
I don't like rock. Well, I don't hate it. I just don't listen to most regularly. My favorite types of music are:
~Pop (don't judge me

)
~R & B (same as above)
~Dance
I also like some alternative stuff, like experimental. As I said before, I don't hate rock, I do like a little bit of it. I like some contemporary jazz/blues and adult contemporary stuff also. Also hip-hop. I don't think there's actually anything I hate.
And for the record, not all pop is "manufactured". Natasha Bedingfield's a great songwriter and does what she wants.
Another thing, for some reason I like alot of music from the UK, or that's popular. Even though I live in the US. Anyone here who's in the UK, here's some of my favorite singers that you've probably heard of:
Lily Allen, Corinne Bailey Rae, Samantha Mumba, as I said before Natasha Bedingfield, Dido, etc.
This next part goes out to everyone:
Did you ever feel pressure by your parents, friends, or anyone else to listen to a certain kind of music?
I get alot from mine, most of all my dad. His tastes are very specific. His favorites are blues-rock and rock from the 70's (he despises the 80's and said they "ruined music"). He doesn't like alternative rock at all. He also listens to mostly males, but occasionaly will listen to a band with female vocals. He thinks that a band having a vocalist that doesn't play an instrument is "useless", so when searching for one for his band, he gets picky and says their guitar skills need to match their vocals. Oddly, my dad also likes jazz, but not what I like. He only like instrumental stuff you'd hear on late night jazz stations, not any singers or anything too commercial. He's also a fan of classical orchestra/chamber music (he got mad when I quit the school orchestra). Pretty much any other music (especially anything modern) he hates. Which kind of sucks since I only tend to go for modern music. I feel like he has too many expectations of me of what to listen to, and that I can't be honest with him. But whatever the truth hurts.
My mom also likes rock, but less "blues" like stuff and more rock-and-roll, even stuff from the 80's. She likes Aerosmith, which my dad really hates. She also likes the Beatles, and Elvis. For her, the rule seems to be if it's not rock she really won't listen to it, although she doesn't seem as strict to what I listen to. Though she hates hip-hop and rap.
Last but not least, my friend/kids in school. My really close friends I'll be honest with and tell the truth, or if I think someone won't care. But if I hear someone brag about how they hate hip-hop or pop and ask if the same applies to me, I'll say "Yeah...". As I said before, truth hurts. Not that lying is good, but I live on lies and am afraid some people won't like me if I tell the truth that I'd rather listen to Britney Spears than Fall Out Boy. Which is another thing. Alot of kids like emo music, which I despise. Can't stand the stuff.
Anyway, sometimes I feel like I was born to the wrong parents. I don't like what they like. What's even weirder is that alot of my friends think my dad's kind of cool for liking rock and having a band, but I could give a shit less.
Rant over. Anyone else ever feel the same?
