Hi everyone,

Is it okay to shampoo bleached hair (which is now dyed) everyday? I know that by doing this the colour will fade quicker, but i'm more concerned about the condition of the hair.

My hairdresser says i need to condition more...ideally everyday but i'm not one of these people who can put conditioner onto non-shampoo-ed hair i.e hair that hasn't JUST been washed without it getting weighed down and looking rubbish :(
So i have to shampoo more to condition more

(i use flax seed oil as a leave in treatment twice a week but that still needs to be shampooed out)

So, i want to know:
a) is it okay to shampoo it daily? is this bad for my hair?
b) is there in existence, a good shampoo for bleached/dry hair which won't be too harsh on my colour

I realise that in part b) i'm wanting to have my cake and eat it, but hey, i'm greedy! :p

I don't think there's ever any need to shampoo every day. As long as you use a good conditioner every time you shampoo you're doing all you can.

Just takes your cues from your hair. If it looks and feels smooth, you're doing it right. If it's dry and rough, step it up a notch.

As for the shampoo, I've found Lush's shampoo bars to be excellent.

You could use a shampoo for chemically treated hair, those are usually pretty gentle. Or try just putting shampoo in your roots and then just finger combing through the rest of your hair. That way it washes some of the dirt off, gets the oil at the roots, but shouldn't strip the color as quick. Then use a good conditiner, and try adding your color to your conditiner so each time you apply it, your color gets a little help.

Color makes you beautiful, so taste the rainbow.

I'd go for a shampoo for coloured hair. I find they're quite gentle. I agree with CelticKitten, using a small amount of shampoo at the roots and letting it rinse through the rest works well for me.
So yes, in my opinion it's ok to wash it everyday but I would definitely use conditioner every time.
