So my last hair color was supposed to be a permanent black, but ended up being a navy blue. This color has faded to a dull blue and silvery color. While I'm not as concerned about the shade of color(because I think most of it will lift, if not all), I'm worried about bleaching because it's a permanent dye. Will this be even more damaging than if I was bleaching a veggie color? My hair is pretty healthy considering how much it has been bleached before(Also, I chopped a lot of length in the back, so the most damaged parts are gone). My hair could handle another "regular" bleaching, but I'm wondering if it's worse when permanent dye is the target.

I'm no cosmo pro or anything, but my guess would be yes. It's gotta take a little more effort to get it out since it doesn't naturally come out as easy. But since it's faded that much, I don't think it'd be all that bad. The most damaged my hair's ever been was after dying it permanent black, but mine hadn't faded at all after quite a few months, but I also went as far as using a volume 40 bleach, which was probably where I went wrong. After I did that, my hair was friedddddddd and still even had some dark streaks in it. That's the last time I'll ever dye my hair for a job haha..

So, my guess is that yes, it'll take more than normal, but if it's already fading, and you cut off the worst already, then there's no reason to be too scared over it, just don't go nuts with a high volume bleach like I did, and maybe need to use some toner afterwards if it's not cooperating, but bleaching should be fine :D

But I'm just guessing from my own experience, everyone's hair is different, and I'm no pro at this as I said, so don't try to sue me if I'm wrong haha

Either way, good luck with it!

Well taking into consideration that the permanent will have done its own little bit of damage you may have to be more careful than usual but as long as there are no metallic salts in the dye (sorry, I forgot what brand you used) then the damage/time bleaching ratio is the same; it's just that you'll probably need to bleach for longer than you would a veggie dye.

She used Feria so she should be careful even if it has faded because of the metallic salts.

I've come across these looking at a few different dyes, so I guess I need a bit of schooling. What exactly is a metallic salt and why are they so bad?
