So I needed to remove the unnatural colors from my hair (green and black). I used Color Oops, which helped fade things only a little. Just now I used Loreal Color Zap and my roots are BLONDE. Now its been a while since I"ve seen a lot of my natural color but i've NEVER been a blonde!! It specifically says CANNOT LIGHTEN NATURAL COLOR and its on spots that have NEVER been bleached and my ROOTS that haven't been dyed other than semi colors. and its patchy. I'm REALLY confused mostly. It's fixable, but I'm really freaked out. And really confused.

has this EVER happened to anyone?? Or has anyone ever let their roots grow out and discovered their natural color had changed entirely??

It sounds like it bleached your hair to me. Most people's hair darkens as they get older before it starts going grey of course. I have never heard of someone going blonder without sun or chemical bleaching.

Have you got a plan for fixing it? If you need some ideas it would be good if you can post a photo.

I found out from another site that the Color Zap is basically a bleach - Loreal just lies and called it a color remover and by claiming it 'cannot ligthen natural hair'... It was a fair mess, my hair was a billion colors, so I was trigger shy and went and got it professionally fixed. I like the results and I got some great variation of color since my hair was so many colors. I might post pics but its really quite boring and not 'crazy' anymore

    I'd like to see it.
So how did they go about fixing it? Did you go for a permanent brown? Did it cover the bleached hair ok?

I'll get some goods pics of it soon - bit too dark out right now.

They used a red toned protein filler first. Then a dark strawberry blonde/light brown permanent over my whole head. I figured I'd take advantage of the bleaching and get highlights, so those light colors were left in some places and then there were foils of both a dark red-toned brown (which actually turned almost black) and a medium red tone. So I have 3 tones of reds. It covered it FANTASTICALLY you'd never ever know anything happened. Its a bit darker than I was planning on since my hair was so poreous, but its lightened significantlly since it was done and I really like it.

I'm going to do some extensions next week since I'm now missing my long hair as well.

it is not specifically a "bleach" but it does contain a tad of bleach which is why this happened to you.
