I came across some unused red colour rays dye that someone I knew gave me. It's supposed to be vibrant on the darkest hair, so can anyone verify just how well it works on dark brown-black hair? I would normally bleach and use a semi-permanent dye, but I don't really have the money to be spending right now. And if I use it, I have a half used bottle of nuclear red in my closet, would it be a good thing to use for touch-ups when it starts to fade?

I have medium-dark brown hair and the red worked very well without any bleaching. I does fade rather quickly, but the Nuclear Red should remedy that pretty well. I also used the orange colour rays and here's a picture of that, but I do not have a picture of the red

    I think that stuff is a rip-off.
Sure it's convenient because you don't have to bleach and dye separately.
But you hardly get anything when it costs $15 CAD per box and it does fade fast.
You're better off using actual bleach and dye separately.
Since you already have it you might as well use it though.
You're going to need to touch up the colour every couple of weeks or so.
Something like Special Effects or Manic Panic will do the job.

    I've used it!

The brown shades are my own doing, all the red is strictly color rays. It lasts so long for me ahaa! The picture would be the third time I used it. A month or so after the first time I did it, I dyed over it with some blue MP, the MP faded and the red was still there underneath.

Oh but, they say to keep it in for 30 minutes, to get to that red from regular brown I rinsed after 90.

About 8 years ago my hairdresser used something like that on me, not sure if it was by L'Oreal. It sucked, it wasn't bright at all, and disappeared with one wash. I never believe that something that bleach and colour my hair, just like I don't believe in a shampoo+conditioner.

I have naturally black hair, and used a sort of purple color 4 years ago but it just faded into a murky red.

It's just not very strong, and the color isn't accurate.
