Okay, I was reading my friend's blog, and she challenged people to reveal their "guilty pleasure" songs. I have quite a few, I think, but it's hard to figure out what to list because (1) I'm really not that embarassed about liking anything (2) There's quite a few artists/songs/albums I like that are not in any way "cool". They're dorky, but I am at heart, a dork, so whatever...

Here goes nothing...GUILTY PLEASURES!!! These are really in no particular order...you figure out what's the worst, okay? I challenge you, yes YOU... to post your guilty pleasures. Most of them I don't own, but if I hear them played on the radio (or wherever).

1. Jolene - Dolly Parton ~~ this song has been covered by some "cool" bands, but in essence, it's Dolly Parton...not cool by a long shot. It's still a badass song.

2. Goodbye Earl - The Dixie Chicks ~~ a cool song, but done by the Dixie Chicks, so it loses major points (and I lose major street cred). Possibly the funniest song ever written about murder and revenge. Very Thelma & Louise.

3. The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia - Vicki Lawrence ~~ Yeah, before she was Mama, she sang this song and it makes it on my list.

4. Forever in Blue Jeans - Neil Diamond ~~ This makes it on my list because not only do I like this song, I know ALL the words. I used to sing it karoake when I was a host.

5. Barbie Girl - Aqua ~~ Another song I used to sing karaoke. Ditzy, dumb, but very fun. It's not cool, so it makes it to the list.

6. Touch of Grey - Grateful Dead ~~ Yeah, I've liked this song since high school. What can I say? It's a horrible, horrible gem. So catchy.

7. Chevy Van - Sammy Johns ~~ It's a song about love (ahem) in a van (aka f*ck truck). It's a completely terrible 70s song.

8. Scenes from an Italian Resturant - Billy Joel ~~ It's the saxophone solo in the middle of this one that really makes it dorky. Oh yeah, and it's Billy Joel.

9. Two of Hearts - Stacey Q ~~ This makes it on the list because I recently made an 80s mix & HAD to include it. I actually have this song on CD because it's on the Party Monster soundtrack. I feel like dancing like James St. James & Michael Alig when I hear it.

And last but not least...

10. Cry Me a River - Justin Timberlake (!!!) By far, the most dorky selection I think, but I really feel this song should have been done by SOMEONE ELSE, NOT HIM!!! Seeing as I believe he wrote it, though, it was doomed to dorkville.

Oh excellent my dorky song list, I agree with Cancan I'm not really embarrassed by any of these, but they are dorky
No order just listing
1)Another Postcard by Barenaked Ladies, it's about monkey postcards how cool.
2)Girl all the bad guys want by Bowling for Soup, it's just fun
3)The Boy is Mine by Monica and Brandy, such a 90's song but i still like it.
4)Short Skirt and Long Jacket by Cake, i mean Cake is just a nerdy band, but the songs are so good.
5)Mmmm Mmmm Mmmmm by Crash test dummies, every time i hear it and think of the video with the little girl in the bumblebee suit i crack up.
6)Time after time by Cyndia Lauper, it's just fabulous.
7)Ground control to Major Tom by David Bowie, it's a tribute to all the great old story songs (yes there are better story songs but it's still a good one)
8)Blue da ba de- by Eiffel 65, it's about having everything blue, and techno sounding
9)1 night in Bangkok by Falco, if you haven't heard it that's just a shame.
10) Aqua, I say this because my brother got the me their first cd for Christmas one year, because as he said they're awful and Nikki has bad music taste, but i still loved it and him for getting it for me when he hated them lol.

This is by no means the extent of eccletic music but they are some of my most "embarrassing" songs, oh and my nerdiest song ever---- The Sun is a Mass of Incandescent gas by They might be Giants so funny and educational.

LOL...I've LOVED "One Night in Bangkok" for years. As a kid, I used to dance around to it at my grandparents' house. Yeah, I forgot about "The Boy is Mine" (I seriously do like that song, embarassed to admit it). I never sang that one karoake because you need 2 women to sing it. I like a lot of silly embarassing songs.

Also, TMBG rock. In no way are they embarassing! Any 2 guys who can put on a 3+ hr. concert are okay in my book.

I omitted hair bands because I grew up in the late 80s/early 90s and let's face it, the metal was pretty awful at that period in time. Just listing a bunch of glam songs wouldn't be fair.

I can honestly say that I have none. I listen to such a variety of music, I can't imagine being embarrassed by any of it.

3) Anything Backstreet Boys really...
4) Lady Stardust - David Bowie (really anything by him but this is the one I can't NOT sing along to.)
5)Simple Plan and Avril Lavigne....I really don't know WHY I like them..it's just an addiction (heeheeehee)

Well, let's grown old together, since "Ziggy Stardust" is prehaps one of the greatest albums of all time. Lady Stardust is a beautiful song. No need to be embarassed.
