Hi there :)

i've had my hair dyed all over in various colours over the past year and a half. i've now dyed my hair back to a bleached blonde while i was trying to get a job.
it turns out i didn't need to as my employers are quite happy for me to have crazy coloured hair! absolutely gutted as my hair was a lovely purple before this whole charade! *sigh*
so, i need to inject some colour back into my life! but i'm becoming quite attached to the blonde (not to mention it was expensive to have it fixed up at the hairdressers)
i am very indesicive and last time i put coloured bits into my hair i didn't like the colour or where i'd placed it, but as i was using special effects i was kind of stuck with it until they faded.
i'd like to know what brands or specific dyes will give a good colour but wash out well so i can change colour regularly or stick with the blonde. i have only ever used special effects before. i'm going for a white blonde look on my hair and have been using toner on it, so colours that wash out well is important to me so it doesn't look too grubby.
also i will try to get a picture up after i've had my hair cut tomorrow for some advice on placement of colour!

thankyou all so much for reading, hope you can help me!

Rachael

    Hi Rachael,
I'd go for pastels if you want to make sure it will wash out quickly and compared to the pale blond hair it will look pretty colourful without being dark.
The best shades to go for are purples and blues as they'll fade out nicely and have a toning effect on the hair. Try to avoid pink unless it's very very pale and at that go for cool toned pinks to avoid it going a weird orange/peach colour.
If you fancy green go for a minty green and avoid anything yellowish.
I hope this helps. I'd love to see some photos if you go ahead.

In relation to Jude's comment, I've had different experiences with colors:

I've found green, blue, and purple to be the worst colors to do your hair if you want them to fade quickly.

Red fades to orange which fades to blond, and pink fades to a lighter pink which then will fade to blond.

I prefer those colors, and then orange fading always looks alright, too, since it's orange and is an interesting color all on its own.

Green is gross because it'll go to a puke yellow.

Purple I've found fades to grey and white, but is easy to color over.

Blue fades to green, to turquoise, and is just horrible unless you want to do a color darker than it.

If you want to color your hair but be able to change it alot, I'd recommend doing lighter colors but keeping them on for not as long as you normally would. Paint them on very lightly.
