I re-did my hair with Deep Purple (SFX). My hair was a burgundy/red color with about 1/4" or so of light brown roots. I left it on for about an hour. The picture was taken with a flash and it is as dark as the picture shows. It is purply in direct light, but when it's dimmer, it looks almost black. I'm hoping it sticks around for a while. After it fades a bit, I'll probably retouch my roots with the burgundy and do a two tone look.

I love how it looks like an unnatural black. Deep purple lasted about 4 months on my hair before I got tired of it and bleached it out so I'm guessing it will last for you too.
Do you keep a record of all the hair colours you get through? I was just thinking you've tried so many combinations now you could make a really good hair timeline.

I do & I've been meaning to do a timeline, but it seems like for whatever reason (at least when I try to do it at work), the photo uploader never works for me. I wonder if it's the image size? I will try at home (and reduce the sizes of the images a bit). I have a lot of pictures on my computer at home.

Looks nice! I like how it looks like purple/black! I wonder what colour it will fade to on the burgundy.

Yeah I realise there are a couple of problems for some people uploading.
As far as I can tell there are two potential problems:
    1. image size - uploading really large images puts a strain on the server and our web host kills the process therefore breaking the image. Under 1mb should be fine especially since the image is resized later anyway.
    2. The javascript to make sure the date entered is in the correct format doesn't work in IE 6 and 7. If the date taken isn't automatically picked up from the image try using the calendar at the side which will ensure the date goes in in the right format.

It's all trial and error for me. It's easy to test it at home but once it goes live and a few hundred users try it all the little bugs I missed come out of the woodwork, but hey at least it will be more robust when I get these problems sorted out.

The weather outside is frightfull, the purple color looks delightful. Your two tone idea also sounds like a winner.

The purple is still going pretty strong, although it has washed out some (as expected). It's covering my roots nicely still. It's been about a week, and I've been washing my hair a bit more and taking more showers than usual (in order to effectively wake up in the morning!).

Thanks for the compliments. I'm sort of growing my hair out right now so I can do a bit more with color, so this dark purple has been a godsend.
