HELLO!!

I hope it's semi-active here.
And sorry if this type of thing is common. But I've paid special attention to the variations of blues, and I just can't make a decision. All the photos on the internets are so deceiving. :(

I need some help from some experienced people; all I've done to my hair before was dye it Vampire Red (Manic Panic) :( But since that's just way too common nowadays, I've decided to experiment with blue instead of turning back to red.
And I want to make the right choice, as I don't want to waste money or continue using a colour I don't like until it runs out :/

Now, here's a snap of someone's blue hair:

When her hair fades, it turns this colour:

A nice turquoise-ish :D I want my hair to do that. I want to avoid the sewage green. But I'm also not sure if I want my hair to be as dark blue as hers was originally; sort of want it to stand out more, you know?

Any suggestions on what to use? Something that's similar to hers and fades the same nice way? And not too purpley.

Alsooooo, Manic Panic is easier to find here so if you know anything about their blues, do tell. If you think it's more worth looking for another brand, don't hesitate to tell either XD I can try to find it.

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies :O

Where did you get the idea that blue will fade to turquoise like that?
    I don't think that's even possible.
I've used several blue dyes, and they usually fade to green or teal if you're lucky.
If you're looking for something that fades more nicely, use Special Effects.
All their blues tend to be a bit on the purple side so you don't see any green as it fades.
I know you mentioned you don't really want anything purple but that's the best way to avoid it.

I agree, I don't think a blue is going to fade to that colour. It's either going to fade to a purplish and later silver colour or to a greenish one. Doesn't it say on the site what dye she used, and if the pic is really of what it says it is?O_o Maybe if you put blue on white bleached hair it's going to save it from some of the green? But still I think most of the blue dyes fade towards either green or purple.

I think her hair literally did that.
She took a lot of photos when she had it, and it slowly went to that in every picture. Unless she also has a turquoise colour and stuck that in after her blue went ugly enough. Shrug.

I also thought about bleaching it to near-white XD but it might be too much work? I haven't put bleach in my hair in ageeees.

But no, it doesn't say what she used at all. And the pictures aren't there anymore, so it'd be kind of weird for me to just come out of nowhere and ask. Doubt she'd tell me anyway.

Hrm. So how about I ask the question differently...
Are there any colours like her 'faded' product? I know there's that turquoise by manic panic, but it looked waaay brighter/greener on photos on the internet.

I'm looking at the SFX swatches now and "Fish Bowl" seems close, but of course it's not even shown on hair so I can't tell D: this is hard. haha

And just now I got this bright idea to smother it with blue mayhem, then when it fades, do fishbowl. Then when that fades, blue mayhem or fishbowl again.

    WONDER IF THAT'D WORK.
Just in case I can't find SFX, which colours are closest to that?

fish bowl ----> manic panic's turquoise
blue mayhem ----> aftermidnight blue or... ?

lkdjlkgjfgk I feel annoying/indecisive XD thanks for the help so far.

I think After Midnight Blue is darker than Blue Mayhem. Maybe something like Shocking Blue from Manic Panic? Haven't tried it but looks closest to Blue Mayhem.

Don't worry, it's best to try and know as much as you can about the colours before you dye it, so that you can get the closest result possible to what you'd like.

I think so too. Which is why I tried to do so XD I just type shitloads, I noticed. Annoying, maybe.

Ah yes, shocking blue seems feasible. I might try those if my SFX hunt fails.

Thank you, kind sheep of Greece.

Keep in mind that MP Shocking Blue will look greenish if your hair isn't bleached enough.
It's best to aim for a pale yellow like the inside of a banana peel.
I'm not sure what the outcome of dying turquoise over faded blue would be though.
Might be a good idea to do a strand test just in case.

That faded hair probably wasn't from a blue at all. I would say Special Effects Fishbowl is your best bet.

Try something like Directions Atlantic Blue with a small amount of Turquoise mixed in. You need to use a blue with no purple tones and add a bit of turquoise. Unless your hair is bleached really light plain turquoise is going to fade a bit more green than that.
