hiya,
i've had my hair nearly every colour under the sun but the only colour i haven't figured a way of getting back to light blonde with without killing my hair too much it bright red,

right now my hair is bright pink, but i swap between that and blonde every other week and i never have problems getting back to blonde from pink, but i'm bored of that and i really would like to try a bright pillarbox red,
i wouldnt use a dye that isn't a semi-permanent so i'll probably opt for a crazy colour or stargazer dye,

just before i do it, i would like people to give me tips on getting back to blonde from red should i choose to without killing my hair too much... my hair hasn't increased in length in 2 and a half years cos it's always snapping off cos of the condition, only since september has my hair increased in about 2 or 3 centimeters :) i'd really like my hair to keep up the growing, but it's so fragile that it might just stop again if i bleach it again too much :/

tips and help anyone? :)

If you want to do a bright red and be able to get back to blonde, try Devilish by SFX. It's a very bright red, but it does fade a bit more than many SFX dyes. When I used it, I got sick of the fading and unkeep and decided to bleach my hair. It came all the way out (no discoloration or residue).

My hair is fairly short, though and was not very damaged. Yours sounds a bit more processed and damaged, so you might end up having to cut some off when you decide to go back to blonde.

Another option might be Manic Panic, since I've never heard of their colors staying around too long.

I had Manic Panic Vampire Red this summer and it looked amazing but lasted for a week before half of it turned orange. It could be in part because we were caught in (possibly acid) rain and the fact that it's very sunny around here, but I'm pretty sure it would have faded very soon even without help. Trouble is I'm not sure if it is easily bleached out or leaves any colour after bleaching.

The lasting effect of manic panic varies, as with every other dye brand and different colours. Vampire Red lasted a week on my hair, but Fuchsia Shock lasted two months.

I think sun was probably the killer for your hair colour. I've managed to lift 2-3 levels of colour from my hair on a sunny day, even this far north.

Personally I've found bath salts work really well at stripping a shade or two but I don't know if alternating between red and blond very often is going to be doable. Reds do tend to stain and if you keep bleaching it out you'll probably wreck your hair to the point where it can't hold a colour.

    Maybe these will help: http://haircrazy.info/miscellaneousarticles/fading-your-colour

I'm not sure, I think most of the fading happened when I washed it, I noticed great difference after each wash.

Xsniperx. does that mean that you bleach your hair every other week? Your hair must be really damaged from what you say, maybe you should try and leave bigger intervals between each dye job?

i use a schwartzkoph live platinum dye on my hair as opposed to an actual bleach or pre-lightner, i always use that because it does a brilliant job at lightening but doesn't hurt my head like pre-lightners do.. but yeh i go between it every other week, altho the pink this time has lasted 5 weeks so far, i'm getting rid of it on thursday, either back to blonde or if i decide i really should dye red, then straight to red,
i only started alternating between blonde and pink in november, before that it had had a good long rest and hadn't had the platinum dye on it since the start of the summer, my hair's fragile at the ends, even if i get it trimmed, it splits again in days, but its very shiney and thick so it doesn't look or feel like straw
