Been looking for a while and so far I've failed to find any really interesting long hair styles that don't require 2 hours of styling every day. Any ideas?

What kind of hairstyle are you looking for? Something for everyday?

An easy curly hair style is putting your wet hair in a bun at night on top of your head.
    Sleep on it.
In the morning take out the bun, shake out your hair a little so its not plastered to the sides of your head, and then put hairspray in it.
Just enough hairspray to keep the curls, not alot otherwise its crusty.

Yeah I'm looking for an every day sort of hairdo. Really what I'm after is a nice cut that looks good without too much styling. My hair doesn't hold a style very well since it's naturally very, very straight. It seems when your hair is longer it's so much harder to do anything different with it.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Ah, I've got the same problem, my hair is really straight. Even when I had my hair short I had trouble styling it, cause it just wanted to fall down again. :p

I sometimes just do a couple of tight braids when my hair is still wet and sleep with them on and when I undo them in the morning I've got nice and wavy hair, that also looks really shiny since I don't use a hairdryer when I braid it. And since my hair won't even stay in ponytails well in its natural state, the waves make it easier to style and give it some volume.

Also, you can pull half your hair back into a high ponytail and leave the bottom hair down and then pull out some from around your face and above your ears to frame it. And I like the same but with the hair tied in a sort of a messy knot with a hairband. Since your top hair is black and the hair under is blue, I think something like that would show off the colours nicely.

Still, if you want a new cut I'd suggest something with a few layers that adds some volume (be careful though with layers, cause if not done well they can show straight hair completely volume-less, as if half the hair is missing :/) and since you don't want to have to style it, something that sort of falls into place as it dries, maybe shorter layers in the back for some volume?

With long hair like yours, I always recommend some edgy bangs....nothing too straight. You can really show off layers of colors there. And some more long layers cut into the rest. You still keep the length, just thin out the ends a bit.
I wish I had longer hair though....The more I mess with it, the more it breaks off...oh well.

Maybe some layers? I agree with the bangs/fringe idea as well. That can add a bit of an edge to your cut. Long bobs can be neat looking or maybe an assymetrical look (longer in front than in the back with sort of stylish, wispy ends to frame the face). Behind the Chair -http://www.behindthechair.com - has many great pictures in the collections section. It's very inspirational!

I, too, have very straight hair and decided to go short many years ago! I couldn't ever do anything that didn't involve a lot of styling or a ponytail/scrunchie bun.

    Good luck.

Argh, I wish I knew how to describe haircuts better in english, I only understood half of what you two said.

Also choose what bangs/fringe you have according to your face shape, maybe experiment with some of your hair to get an idea how it'd look on you. :)

Thanks for all those suggestions. I considered something asymmetric but I think I'll wait until the really fried hair has grown out so I don't end up looking like a big triangle! You need really sleek hair to pull off that look.

I think when I freshen up my layers it will look a lot better. Somehow the lower layer always seems to grown twice as fast as the upper layers. I'm also thinking about adding a long fringe but maybe not in the traditional temple-to-temple way. It's hard to explain but I think if I take a thin section of my hair either side of my parting and cut that shorter I can have a long fringe sometimes but blend it in with the rest of my hair if I don't want it to show. Does that make sense?
