Current Hair: A faded purplish mess
Posted 8 months, 2 weeks ago

A couple of months ago I used Purple Haze to dye my hair. To my surprise it turned almost brown, with some parts of purplish/brown. I wasn't expecting that, as my hair was faded pink (MP Fucshia Shock) before that and had previously been dyed SFX Pimpin' Purple, MP Vampire Red, SFX Virgin Rose with great results.

So, after not liking it at all, I went over it with Deep Purple. Now, after a couple of months and now that the Deep Purple has actually turned purple from purple/black some parts of my hair have started to look more purple/brown and I'm kinda worried. What if the Deep Purple washes out and I end up with that horrible muddy brownish/purple colour? Will it ever fade out? My hair was bleached to yellowish blond, so it's not that my natural brown colour prevails or something. I'm kinda confused! Pictures of the colour I've seen were of a nice vibrant purple, not at all what I got...

What should I do if it shows again? I don't think most of my hair can stand any more bleaching. Should I just start washing it with warm water and dandruff shampoo and just try to get it to fade? I wanted to try some more bright/vibrant colours come summer, but that brownish colour creeping out is making me think it'll never wash out.:/ Anyone has ANY idea at all why that purple came out like that on my hair in the first place?:S

I think it's because of the yellow tones in your hair. If you look at the colour wheel (http://haircrazy.info/hairscience/colour-theory-for-hair-dyeing/) you'll see violet and yellow are opposing colours. When you mix yellow and violet you get a brownish shade and I think that's what has happened here.

It was something like yellow/orange and I don't understand why Purple Haze had a problem, when Pimpin Purple didn't. I thought it was more on the red side of purple than Pimpin Purple, which came out great. Deep Purple too, which as I understand is a cooler shade, also looks purple, not muddy like Purple Haze.:/

Also that dye made me wonder a bit cause it started foaming as I was applying it, without combing it or something. It was like I was applying foam on my hair with the brush.
