So the forums have been lacking new interesting topics that get people to post so I've come up with a broad category that everyone can post in-Life. Not to be confused with Life the Universe and Everything no no we'll save Douglas Adams for another day.

Today's topic includes telling something about your life that you think is interesting, could be friends could be school could be work. Something that we haircrazies would not know about you unless you choose to share it here.

So for my contribution and perhaps noteworthy *sniggers to self* commentary I shall tell you about my school research. Awesome I know! I go to school for my Masters of Biology, which is one step above a 4 yr degree but less than a PhD. I work with the bacteria Helicobacter pylori and research neonatal infections vs. adult infections as it relates to cancer and ulcer development. I spend my days in a lab doing genetic work and bacterial culturing while jamming to loud rock music in between classes and teaching labs for Professors. It's really interesting work and that's what i plan to do with my career.

So does anyone else have any good contributions? Come on we live such diverse lives let's share the experiences!

Hmm it's hard to think of something interesting about me that people here don't already know... but I like the idea of some good discussion on the forums.

I guess I'll tell you about some of the background of HairCrazy; how it started and what I do on a daily basis.

So I started HairCrazy in June 2001 just after I moved to Scotland. HairCrazy was the first name that sprung to mind. I wish I could come up with names that stick that easily all the time. The first site was really simplistic, done in Flash and pretty goofy looking.

It was HairCrazy.net back then (before my hosting company at the time screwed up my billing and caused me to have my domain sniped).

Anyway, soon I needed stuff like a forum so we revamped the site. It looks so amateurish and clunky now but it was ok at the time. The site was starting to get really popular at this time. Here's how it looked in October '03: http://web.archive.org/web/20031017215058/http://www.haircrazy.info/
Some of you will remember the last layout like this from May 2005: http://web.archive.org/web/20050529234520/http://www.haircrazy.info/

I started HairCrazy.com in 2002 because I was getting so many emails from people asking me where to buy hair dye. HairCrazy.com hasn't changed much since then. That's probably a bad thing... but we did get better products and hire an employee.

A lot of you will remember we switched to this site in May 2007. It took 4 or 5 months of solid work to get this version of the site up and running. It looks so much more simple on the outside to how much code went into making it. I had to learn a new programming language as I made it which probably slowed things down but I was happy with the new interactivity and the cleaner look.

It probably seems like I just post topics in the forum all day but there's a lot of behind the scenes work. Most of you who buy from HairCrazy.com will probably have had dealings with me. I answer emails and pack orders. As well as that I'm in touch with suppliers and I do all the programming and graphics for the site. I do all the product photography and keep an eye on stock levels too.
My favourite part of my job is working on the content for HairCrazy.info. I like reading through the article submissions and editing where needed. I also enjoy seeing the new photos uploading, choosing Photo of the Month, checking on comments etc. One of the most interesting parts, you can call me a geek for this, is analysing the stats and seeing where visitors are coming from, how many people visit the site each day and what pages they're looking at.
A huge portion of my time is put into developing new features and fixing bugs with the site. The backend to this site is a huge beast so there's a lot that can go wrong. It's satisfying when we roll out some new features and people start using them though.

Ok, that's enough ramblings. But now you know what I do all day

Oh, websites take up so much more work than it seems. I had to do the school website last year and I worked on our Virtual Enterprise website this year and had to learn HTML coding and such. But it's rewarding to see the end result. I'd show you my pages, but the school took them down or redid them.

    Hmm...something interesting about my life:
I really don't know. I don't do much anymore because I'm on homestudy (finishing highschool online).
I'm kind of thinking about selling quilted pillows online. I already know how to make a website and I rock at sewing (hand sewn, machine sewn). I can make a 14 inch by 14 inch fully quilted pillow in a couple hours if I use a machine, a day if I hand sew and quilt it. I think I could make a pretty good profit if people were willing to buy it.
They would not be old-ladyish either. I use fun patterns and bright fabrics. I'm working on one right now with a big red fish on it. It's cute.

    Life...Something about me.

Well I'm coming to believe I'm one of the youngest people posting on this website (soph in HS) and it doesn't faze me, just wanted to throw that out there.
My life isn't that exciting at the moment because winter is ending and I get so lazy in winter. I'm attempting to get fit again because I havn't played soccer in like forever. Thats basically my life in the fall and spring.
I'm attempting to find a job in order to get money for my hair ideas.
I just got a new puppy back in January for free because noone wanted him. Omg hes ADORABLE!!

[I'm kinda just spitting out random stuff because life is such a broad category, And I suck at writing about broad categories. Like when you have to write a 100 word essay in a foriegn language on a test, I end up going from two kids walking home to study to them finding an abandoned dog and giving it a home.]

My main focuses at this moment are getting in shape (im not overweight at all in case you were wondering; just not muscularly fit; the good muscular for a girl, not the ripped gross kind), returning my straightener that has been busted since Nov (oh yeah im a procrastinator), getting a job, training my puppy, getting spring clothing, making clothes that I bought all this fabric for, and raising money for a dress form.
Hmm... I Love music I have my iPod wherever I go and its maxed out. Oh and I absolutely hate feet!

I'm almost done my second year of university.
I'm majoring in English and I hope to become a writer.
I'm going to be in debt for quite awhile because of student loans.
So that's me in a nutshell!

I'm going to be in debt for quite a while also, I almost pursued my PhD until i looked at the cost and realized I would be paying off debt and not have any money for like 10 years.

Im a sophomore too! so your not alone! haha. how old are you? cause most likely im the youngest person on the forum.lol im 15 1/2. (i could be a freshman but i started school early)

well lets see..interesting?..me?. not exactly so i guess ill tell about my swimming. well see ive been swimming since i was 7(in 2nd grade) and i had never swam the 500 yard free(20 laps) competitively in my life; i mostly stuck to sprints and such. well this year, on the highschool team, my coach decided to stick me in the 500 just for giggles well i ended up swimming way faster than our fastest 500 swimmer and by the time sectionals had come i was swimming it in 5 minutes and 57 seconds, which got me 2nd place. next year im hopeing to make it to state in the 500.
I bake too. like super decorated stuff. for easter i made a cheesecake that looked like a flower. and after highschool im going to culinary school to be a pastry chef.

Well my plan right now is to get in with a company that will pay me to pursue my PhD, perhaps get it so that my research is part of my job but we'll see how that works I have big plans though, I mean without my PhD how will i create a race of super bacteria that allow me to take over the world? Although now I've reveled my plan shoot!

My life, sounds like the title of what would be a very short book :) Most my time is spent at work, I'm about half way through my PhD. Unfortunately I can't say much about my work, but I'm working closely with the Scottish armed police force.
Outside of work my time is usually spent with my girlfriend soon to be fiancée *shh*. I also have a wide range of hobbies but finding time for them is getting difficult.
