I got so many compliments/comments about my hair just at the grocery store, mostly old people asking me how i kept my hat on...?

Be very open and honest with who and what you are. If people still like you, fine, if not, that's their problem.

I get a lot of weird looks and stuff. Some people love my hair (mainly my friends.) Most people think I'm out of my mind though.

eh my town is okay.
its a smaller town, with a few people who dye thier hair.
I'd say, I've seen 10 people in my school with wacky colored hair.
One of them is one of my really good friends and omg her hairs AMAZING.
I think my teacher is getting blue in her hair too.

So yeah I guess you can say people don't really care. But then there are the stupid people who think thier all that, and look down thier nose at you when you pass.
Freshmen girls ugh i'll kill them

It's pretty accepting. I get a few 'why the hell did you dye your hair pink?'s but that's just lame people trying to be sassy.

I'm the only one around here, though. But people don't care, I usually just have kids screaming 'you have pink hair!' at me. But some of them say it's cool too :)

to dye for :D

I wear a wig to school
due to the dress code policy of "bizarre hair coloring"
I haven't lived here even a year yet, and plan to speak to the board of education about this offending statement.

meanwhile I have teachers supporting me and I am complimented with a mixture of disapproval

I wear it for respect of the teachers and staff, my last and school year will be different.

That's actually pretty cool Eccentric_Blue1. I have wondered how many people wear wigs for this purpose. Just think, once you are "out" and working or at college/university/etc., there are choices YOU can make in order to look the way you want. I actually regret not taking advantage of this period of time and doing more crazy hair stuff! My hair in high school/college was actually quite boring (blonde, bleached, poofed, hairsprayed to hell).

I agree with you, though. There are a ton of things that the school district should be worried about instead of hair color. How about education, eh? Violence? Attendance? Getting kids into a career path?

I had the good fortune to attend a school that didn't discriminate against creativity (at least for the last year). Our senior class president had wild hair (red, then blue, probably Manic Panic). No one seemed to care, at all. I did attend an arts school, though.

Prior to that, I attended a very prim and proper private school, with a dress code that only allowed for skirts (no shorter than the top of the knee) and very modest (read boring) clothing.

That sounds just like my high school though I wouldn't like to give them the credit for me dyeing my hair interesting colours. Still, I wonder how many other crazy haired people went to strict schools.
I was just glad I managed to get out at 16 and go to tech - no dress code, no enforceable rules. Perfect

Yeah, so I used to live in a town of about 490 people. Harrington, Washington.

So you can imagine, I suppose, the amount of people that started freaking out when I began to dye my hair crazy colours. Alright, so really they flipped on my parents because I was in 4th grade when I first dyed my hair "oddly". It was purple XD. Anyhow, now they're pretty much used to me but anyone who moves into town gets a shock until they find out I'm the town's "bad apple" lol...

Anyways, now I'm living in a bigger city: Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, so it's not as big a deal as it was. Although I still adore the looks I get from old people =D.

    ...happy dying...

wow. that wig idea is a good one E_B! Never heard of that.
i totally agree that schools should worry about other things.
My school just wasted a ton of tax money on video cameras, that dont even record anything. theyre only useful if people are actually sitting there watching, which is like never.

I get a lot of compliments from middle to older aged people.
They always tell me, "Most people can't pull it off, but it really works for you!..."

My retort for any comment on my hair is just: "Yeah.. I like to have fun with my hair, why not-right?"

And then there are people that stare.
    Weirdos...
