Haha, hakusa, I get that all the time. On campus we get a lot of couples walking around with little kids and they always scream and point at me.
I live in L.A. so almost everyone stares, except in West Hollywood. I rarely get people coming up to me and complimenting me but a lot of teenagers give approving nods.
The only thing I don't like is accusations due to the stigma from employees in malls and stores. I can't tell you how many times I've been accused of stealing and had my person searched just because of my hair, when I hadn't even done anything suspicious.

Are you serious? What part of LA are you in? I would think they would be pretty acception because of the diversity there!
I live about 70 miles north of LA in the mountains (we have barely anything here) so i'm in LA a lot. I have never been accused of stealing or been treated badly because of my hair or style. That is completely rude for them to do so!
Of course in some malls I get stared at, but mostly I get comments from people asking how I did it. Then a lot of strange middle aged men make bad jokes about it. That's just annoying. I get a ton of very young girls(3-7 i'd say) pointing at my hair saying "I want that mommy!" and the mothers either smile at me embarrassed or drag their kids away and pretend I wasn't there.

just today some little girls said they liked it as i was walking by, then my boyfriends best friends brother(try saying that five times fast)said it was scary...
i really like doing it though. everybody i know says do it while you're young.

Be very open and honest with who and what you are. If people still like you, fine, if not, that's their problem.

Well, if you don't want attention, then don't have Cherry Bomb in your hair . I have had more comments on this color than any other I can remember. It's literally every other day. It actually increased when the color faded (it's now somewhat pink rather than red). I have men driving by ask me how I do my hair. I have ladies in the parking lot at the pharmacy yelling at me about how to do it. Checkout girls, customers at work, random strangers...LOL...I don't really care, but sometimes it can be a bit much. I feel like pulling on a hat or a bandana in order to function in society!

In my hometown (wading river, long island), everyone dyed there hair black with the exception of a friend of mine who used to have her hair in all these braids with some purple in it, then I think she cut them off and got these greenish poofs going on. Down here, though, the only person I've seen with died hair is a friend of mine, she's awesome. This place was some sort of fishing town (in the Bible Belt, btw) until housing developments moved in, so yea, I'd have to say its a pretty conservative town.

Shut up and be happy! >:O

I live in Culver City right now, which probably explains it. I think if I lived in West Hollywood or somewhere more accepting that might not happen, but Culver City is pretty conservative.
When I go back to Wisconsin, though, I get a lot more compliments, which is a little strange.

Well I'm from Mexico and I currently live in a city in the border with the USA, but I have traveled around my country and in everywhere I get positive and negative reactions, a lot of people misjudge me or stare at me weird in dissaproval, but there a lot of people aswell that stops and ask me questions about me and all the hair process and they like it, and everyone want to touch it, which is sometimes disturbing but the worst thing is when people pull my hair with no permission at all, thats very annoying actually and hurts my head :(

not that i'm generalising or anything but here in hamburg there are a lot of turkish people who mix with the german kids. nearly all the turks are what we would call "kanacken". i suppose the closest thing to that would be chavs but i'm not sure.

as soon as anybody alternative is around they start pointing, staring, laughing, and even taking fotos

and i mean we have something called the reeperbahn here which is our red light district thats famous around europe(also where the beatles were discovered) as an alternative to amsterdam

Next concert: Hamburg - Apocalyptica (again) - 2nd of July

my town... it depend on who you're talking to. a lot of people here are pretty conservative, but then again, a lot aren't
in school, it's pretty widely accepted
it's not really too "crazy" anymore
all the girls have pink or blue in their hair
and if you go beyond the usual streaks, people are usually like... WOW! that's awesome

my high school is pretty accepting to wild hair, wild style, wild whatever. it's not uncommon, but it's not like everyone does it. so most people will compliment you than give you the condescending stare.
but my whole city in general, man, they're pretty obvious about it. with even a pink chunk you'll receive PLENTY of giraffe necks swaying outside of vehicles, whispers, and zombie looks. don't get me wrong, it's actually funny. you just look at them back, then they stop as if they've been punished. but hey, it's better than being shunned.

in other words, you'll be the center of attention. it's good or bad depending on how you react to it.
