Temporary Dreads

Fri 21 October 2005

Ever wondered what it would be like to have dreadlocks? If you're scared of commitment but want to try out the look have a go at this!

You will need:

* hair straighteners
* hair spray

Take a piece of hair and twist it around into an even roll. Hold the end and with a straightening iron apply heat to the length of the twist avoiding fingers! Remove heat and continue to hold for a few seconds while the hair cools. Let go and the hair should remain twisted. It works best with thin sections of hair. Repeat until all of your hair is twisted and fixed with heat. Apply hair spray all over your hair (keep away from straighteners) to fix. You can tidy up the ends with some gel if they become unraveled.

morgen morgen says: "wow... Okay - so I first read this article a while ago and discarded it as i couldnt imagine how it could possibly work, but alas! Yesterday, feeling rather bored, I decided to try it out. I didnt even have to use hairspray to heep mine in place- it was perfect! Unfortunatly i have rather thin hair so mine didnt really look too amazing, though when i brushed them and separated them out they went alot puffier and looked really good... and were mistaken for real dreads by my family and friends - perfect :D"

Olivia Olivia says: "It really works. I did it yesterday while I was home sick from school. Took me forever to do all my hair since I have a ton of hair and its thick as hell. I used a hot iron spray [Dangerously Straight Finishing Spray] before using my hot iron. I think it worked out great."

BunnyWabbit BunnyWabbit says: "i used to do something like this when I was a kid, didn't look quite a neat as this technique would though since they'd be nice and formed! def gonna try it out later it shouldn't tangle badly at all as the hair is merely twisted not backcombed or anything like that."

Jude Jude says: "To Taking_back_my_sundae - it just washes out. The hair doesn't get knotted so it's just a matter of washing out the hair spray."
